Tata Motors
Tata Motors Introduction Tata motors are the Indiaââ¬â¢s largest automobile company with 14 million $. Established in 1945 it rolled out of India in 1954. Tata motors, the first company from Indian engineering sector to be listed in New York stock exchange, which emerged as international automobile industry. Tata has its operations in all continents. Tata increased its global network by acquiring Jaguar cars and Land Rover from Ford cars. In recent years, Tata as lost its prestige due to some wrong strategic planning and also has been in controversies for wrong reasons. The most famous was the Bengal scandal faced by Tata where it had to move out its half built plant to Gujarat. Which cost them capital, time and mostly importantly its brand name? The main focus of my dissertation will be to study Tata motors Strategies and understand why it is not doing good in developed economies. Objectives The core objective of my study is to understand the challenges faced by Indian car companies in Developed countries. Although Tata has been successful to acquire Jaguar and land rover these companies are also not performing up to expectations. My study will help understand this company what is stopping them from being successful. My dissertation will be only focused on passenger cars. Objectives Study the Strategy adopted by Tata Understand the problems in strategies Understanding the marketing mix adopted by Tata To study the competitor and their strategies adopted in U.K. The major questions to be answered in my dissertation are:- Q1) What are the problems faced by Indian automobile industry abroad? Q2) What strategies are adopted by Tata in United Kingdom? Q3) Why has the import penetration strategy of Tata failed? Q4) Why has Tata failed to function in significant market? Preliminary literature review ââ¬Å"The European Automobile Industryâ⬠by Andrew M Mclaughlin and Willlam A Malony has discussed about strategies and policy failure of UK government and the problems in Ministry with diverse range of actors with differing views on future direction. In chapter 3 they have explained the procedure adopted by Land Rover to Privatises. The car market M J H mogridge analysis the statistics and dynamics of supply and demand. This research provides all the statistical data like supply model car ownership forecasting model. This will help me understand the future structure that Tata will adopt and will it be useful in the Market. The book CAR by Mary Walton in chapter 11 she has talked about the supply- side economics and production of automobile which affects the cost of production and supply chain model of an company. Japaneseââ¬â¢s in UK [The Japanese] are welcome here in Britain has made no secret of welcome inward investment. We view it not as threat but as an opportunity both for investor and as the host UK. (John Major anglo-japanese journal 1990 4{3}:10) The future of automobile (the report by MITââ¬â¢s international automobile program by Alan Alshuler, Martin Anderson, Daniel Jones, Danniel roos, James Womack. The report is about Japanese car structure and technological advancement and priorities of UK which have shifted dramatically towards intervention. The pressure of the world oil reserves and production which adds pressure to change in fuel and green gas emissions. The technological shift and opportunities to adapt the automobile to change the process of RD. The book ââ¬Å"Cars, Carriers of regionalismâ⬠By Jorge Carrillo, Yannick Lung and Rob van Tulderâ⬠will provide me information for the role of WTO and its trade disputes in 1995-2001. The import penetration and export penetration ratios for motor vehicles. Rules of origin in free trade agreements. The automobile production in Europe. Passenger car sales in India 1981-2001 and economies in south Asia. The book ââ¬Å"globalization or regionalization of the American and Asian car industry? By Michel Freyssenet, Koichi Shimizu and Giuseppe Volpatoâ⬠. Changes in the level of concentration of the world automobile industry 1985-2006. The changing shift of power from western country to Asian markets. The failure of American car companies. ââ¬Å"The Indian Automobile Industry: Statistical Profile 2005-2006â⬠by society of ââ¬Å"Indian automobile manufactureâ⬠this book will provide me the main data needed and also the statics will be provided to me. Data like the sales rise in Indian market and also the role of IMF and WTO in promoting automobile industry in India. ââ¬Å"The British car industry: our part in its downfall by James Ruppertâ⬠will give information like the real situation about British car industry and how it is dealing with the current situation of credit crunch. The European companies talking over British companies. The evolution of the British automobile industries. Annual production of land rover and British car manufacture. Annual change in domestic sales. Market failure of transforming British Leyland into land rover. Information available on internet. The official website for automobiles in UK has all the needed information like (manufacturing industry) turnover, Employees, Companies, capital expenditure, stock turns, trade balance. (Vehicles registration) UK cars sold 2002-2008, used cars sold in 2002-2008. According to British chamber of commerce the recovery of UKââ¬â¢s economy will be depended on automobile industry. There are some case studies available about jaguar and land rover on www.supplychainmanagement.com Methodology My study will be focused on both Quantitative and qualitative techniques of data interpretation. My mostly data sets will be economic, WTO agreements and data collected from interviews. Economic Data sets: This data will be collected through books IMFââ¬â¢s reports, research, Journal, Organisations, Interviews. This data includes the laws and also policies which affect Tata. The stat table of annual sale of each automobile company. According to Hired Michael Eisner ââ¬â 1984 there are two types of analysis for strategies management process internal and external. Internal include analysis like human recourse, manufacturing ability and technology; whereas external include factors like interest rate, demographic, socio cultural trend. Analysis like SWOT, PESTEL and Michel portalââ¬â¢s five forces will also help me understand better the strategies adopted by Tata and the reason for failing in UK were others have succeeded. Although it is quite clear that financial crisis has hit every automobile company in this world. Interview: This is one of the very important and most useful techniques to be used to find out Tataââ¬â¢s strategies for Jaguar and Land Rover in U.K. This interview can be done via E-mails or any other electronic source. Data like structure of the company and official figures can release by this method. It is also possible to understand their future goals and new releases via this method if allowed. Co-relations: the data collected will be processed in SPSs software and the co relation will be obtained which will help in understand the different strategies and there rate of success for both Japanese as well as Tata. The main motto for using this technique is to understand and collect the data available and analysis for this softwareââ¬â¢s like SPSS and Excel will be used and also graphs and tables will be presented to describe how the sales for Tata have increased and how it is look at its future in United Kingdom. This will also help me to understand that how the change in the ownership has brought change in the brand name. Possible outcomes The dissertation I am planning to make will provide the future of Tata motors in U.K. and also help in evaluating the Indian automobile industry. Tata is undoubted the biggest brand form India. This dissertation will help to analysis the mistakes made by Indian brand aboard and what all things are needed to improve the brand name. This kind of study will involve lot of study and analysis of the sales and structure of jaguar and land rover after and before Tataââ¬â¢s intervention. The outcomes of this dissertation will allow a clear view of FDI in U.K. for automobile industry and allow us to understand how this industry is evolve with lot of hard challenges like global warming, green house effect and also gas price hike. Jaguar in particular has faced lots of problems in particular for the recent credit crunch. Schedule Step1. This step will involve lot of reading of relevant books, and also collect economic policy, political information and law and regulations. This will also involve Indiaââ¬â¢s economic progress after 1991 and read lots of journals, reports, T- tests, and data analysis done by experts. I will also try to understand co-relations and quantities techniques which will be use later on for processing of data. Step 2. This step will involve collection of data like structure and sales of particular year by means of interview as primary source and also collected data from secondary source. Later on I will plan and design a research model for data processing. Step 3. The last and final stage will involve methods like data processing which I have collected from the first two stages. My dissertation does not involve any hypothesis it just involves collection of structure, stage and market sales. Classification Essay - The Types of Kids that Make Up My Generation
Classification Essay ââ¬âThe Types of Kids that Make Up My Generation One of the things that has troubled me as of late is my generation. The generation that is referred to is the group of people currently aged 15-21 - whether or not this is a "generation," so to speak, is irrelevant. These people, for the most part, disturb me. It frightens me to know that the people that I've grown up with are going to be leading the country and the world in the decades to come. The overwhelming majority of the kids that I've come in contact with over the past few years are apathetic monsters. They don't care about school, they don't care about themselves, and they don't care about their future. To dissect the three aforementioned attributes... Kids don't care about school. Why is it that so many kids decide that ditching school on a fairly consistent basis and/or not caring at all about their grades is the right thing to do? What could possibly be more important than school at such an age? You're a fool to tell me that getting high, going to a mall, getting trashed or any other alternative is better than going to school. You're a fool to tell me that the sole point of going to school is to see and gossip about other people with your friends. An education is the gateway to future success. The kids who don't care about school (all too many) are living for the moment, and not thinking about the long run. Instead of channelling their energies into studying, they instead take the easy way out and have fun. Who wants an incompentant oaf for President? Kids don't care about themselves. Why is it that so many kids decide that injecting themselves with various chemicals is the right thing to do? I can't tell you how many und... ...is that there are other, harmless ways to set themselves aside from others; they also don't realize the irony that their rebellion is actually quite conformist, seeing how there already is a sizable portion of the population that can be labeled rebels. The second sad trait to this is that other, "normal" (meaning non-sheep and non-rebels) people take to liking these individuals, whether it be as friends or romantically. How a rational-thinking person can identify with these out-of-touch miscreants is beyond my comprehension. The so-called rebels act ridiculously outlandish, only to inexplicably generate positive responses from their sickening behavior from others. The rebels crave attention, and the way that they get it is through their ludicrous conduct. God forbid if they don't draw any attention... What do you think is responsible for all of the school shootings?

Essay on Discrimination Against Women as Addressed in Cantors Dilemma
Discrimination Against Women as Addressed in Cantor's Dilemmaà à In his novel, Cantor's Dilemma, Dr. Djerassi uses female characters to address sexist issues arising from women integrating into the predominantly male science world. The characters, Celestine Price and Professor Arderly, are used to show examples of how women have little voice in the field of science. The female characters suggest how women are often looked upon as sex objects rather than co-workers and they are given little opportunity to balance a scientific career with raising a family. By weaving these issues into his novel, Dr. Djerassi illustrates the following theme: Discrimination against women in the field of science is harmful to the progression of scientific exploration. If women are excluded from science, then an artificial limit is put on human resources. (The field of science will not utilize the potential female minds available.) The first issue that Dr. Djerassi casually mentions is that women are not adequately represented in the field of science. The character, Celestine Price strongly desires a career in chemistry. She faces the challenge of how to plot her map of success while taking into consideration the male dominated world of science. Her old high school chemistry teacher advises Celestine that if she ever wants to get an academic position at a top university, she has got to get plugged into "the old boy's network." He says to her, "Make no mistake about it. Chemistry is still a man's world."1 Dr. Djerassi paints the picture of a boy's clubhouse with a sign at the door reading, "No girls allowed!" In this context, it is inferred that a woman has to prove her worth before the society of men will give her the privilege of working wit... ...roblems of integration. If the science world takes advantage of undiscovered female talent, science as a whole will benefit greatly. For example, the original group of ENIAC programmers consisted of 6 women. In 1946, these women helped to develop the first operating stored-program computer.6 If female talent such as this goes to waste because of social neglect, the science world will never know what possible discoveries that could have been made with the help of women. If Dr. Djerassi is accurate with his examples of discrimination, the science world should take note of these problems and attempt to solve them. 1. Fat and Water Soluble Vitamins
Fat and Water Soluble Vitamins Sheila Grant SCI/241 December 23, 2012 Tia Patterson Fat and Water Soluble Vitamins All types of vitamins are essential for everyone to include in their diet to maintain a healthy lifestyle. They are classified into two different classifications. There is fat soluble which are A, D, E and K. The other classification is water soluble vitamins, which is vitamin C and B. Vitamin C and B are also known as complex group vitamins. Vitamins are crucial for the human body to properly function. Foods we eat have different kinds of vitamins, some may have one and some many have multiple vitamins.Watching what you eat will ensure the body is getting plenty of vitamins for your body to function properly. Our body does not make the vitamins we need to sustain life; therefore we need vitamins to maintain proper function of the body system. Vitamins we consume from the foods we eat are one part of a healthy diet. Vitamins help our body function like cell growth, energ y metabolism, immune system, nervous system, circulatory system and reproduction system. Vitamins help fight off infections and as we get older the risk for infections increase. Vitamins are just as important to babies as it is the elderly.Everyone will benefit and have a healthy diet if vitamins are crucial in their diet. The fat soluble vitamins are A, D, E and K. Vitamin A is a crucial vitamin because it helps the eyes and skin to be healthy. Vitamin A is important because it helps teeth and bones to be strong. Vitamin A is also beneficial to the bodies reproductive and immune systems. There are some ideal sources of vitamin A for a healthy diet. They are carrots, sweet potato, tomatoes, green beans, bell peppers, and spinach. The deficiency of Vitamin A could cause diarrhea, intestinal infections, inflammation of the eyes and keratinization of skin and eyes.An individual who consumes too much Vitamin A could cause, blurred vision, enlargement of liver and spleen, loss of hair, s kin changes, and increased pressure of skull. Vitamin D vitamins help regulate the use of phosphorous for our body. According to Nutrition, ââ¬Å"Active vitamin D is needed to maintain normal blood levels of the minerals calcium and phosphorus. Calcium is important for bone health, but it is also needed for proper functioning of nerves, muscles, glands, and other tissuesâ⬠(Grosvenor & Smolin, 2006). Vitamin D can be made in the body and can be absorbed through the skin by sun exposure. When the body has low levels of Vitamin D, the body stores inactive Vitamin D and activategbs it through the liver and kidneys. Vitamin D deficiency in children will cause rickets which is smaller rib cages and bowed legs. Deficiency in adults is Osteomalacia, which causes bone loss. When an individual consumes an excessive amount of Vitamin D, they can have high amounts of calcium in the blood and urine. It also could cause heart problems. Some excellent sources of Vitamin D are salmon, eggs, m ilk, tuna, and cod liver oil.Vitamin E maintains the nerves and the reproductive system to help keep them healthy. The benefit of Vitamin E is it promotes healthy skin. There are excellent sources of Vitamin E found in food, they are; sunflower seeds, almonds, turnip greens and mustard greens. Deficiency of Vitamin D could cause anemia in low birth weight babies. This would happen if starvation was a cause though. Overconsumption of this vitamin causes massive nausea and digestive track conditions. ââ¬Å"Vitamin K is an essential vitamin that is needed by the body for blood clotting and other important process. (Leopold, 2010) The benefits of vitamin K are used in management of extreme bleeding. Too much bleeding can occur from a deficiency of vitamin K mainly with the use of blood thinning agents. Some symptoms related to the deficiency of vitamin K are; nose bleeds, broken blood vessels, blood in urine and bleeding gums. Some problems with vitamin K when excessively taken is upse t stomach and really high doses the person may have an allergic reaction. Excellent sources for Vitamin K are, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, celery, tomatoes and spinach.Water-soluble vitamins are B-complex and Vitamin C. These two vitamins are not stored in the body and will need to be replaced every day. Water-soluble vitamins dissolve in water and therefor they are eliminated in urine. B-complex groups have eight water-soluble vitamins which are; niacin, folate, biotin, pantothenic acid, thiamin and riboflavin. The sources of the vitamins are found in, grains, vegetables, meats, eggs, milk and dairy. B-complex vitamins help the body get energy from the food we eat. It also helps aid in protein metabolism, and helps many body functions.Citrus fruits like oranges are ideal sources for Vitamin C. Vitamin C help maintain blood vessels, bones and teeth. Vitamin C gives us protection again immune system deficiencies, cardiovascular disease and prevents skin wrinkling. In some countries b eriberi, pellagra and pernicious are three common B-vitamin deficiencies. When people overeat certain types of food the deficiency can cause cracks at corners of mouth, impaired growth, mental confusion and eyes sensitive to light. Deficiency to Vitamin C could cause bleeding gums, sore joints, increased infections and easily bruised.Toxicity among the two vitamins can cause diarrhea, bloating, kidney stones, abnormal liver function and irritability. In some cases Vitamin C has the power to diminish the threat of different types of cancer, heart disease and cataracts. Vitamin C serves as an antioxidant as it can fight off infections they may cause harm to our bodies. References Leopold, D. C. (2010, December). Vitamin and Lifestyle Guide.
